Inguinal Ligament
Definition
It is the folded inferior border of the external oblique aponeurosis. Folded inward.
Attachments
Medially the pubic tubercle
Laterally the Anterior Superior Iliac Spine
Structure
Aponeurotic fibres. Pearly white in color. Shiny.
Forms the floor of the inguinal canal
Accommodates the spermatic cord
Underneath or inferior to the ligament lie the femoral canal, femoral artery passing from the abdomen into the thigh and the femoral vein passing from the thigh into the abdomen the femoral nerve.
medially it forms the lacunar ligament
iliacus, psoas major and pectineus pass from the abdomen into the thigh
