Right Atrium
Definition
One of four chambers (two atria and two ventricles)
This elongated chamber lies between the SVC ahd IVC along the right border of the heart

Receives de-oxygenated blood from the superior and inferior vena cavae and the coronary sinus

It pumps the blood into the right ventricle through the tricuspid valve.


SA Node
The sinoatrial node located within this chamber next to the vena cava.
It is a group of pacemaker cells which spontaneously depolarize to create an Action Potential.

Foramen Ovale
In foetal life, a hole present in the atrial septum called �Foramen Ovale�.
Once born Foreman Ovale gets closed and blood enters  the lungs
The Fossa Ovalis is the remnant of Foramen Ovale

Applied anatomy
In some cases, the Foramen Ovale fails to close leading to atrial septal defect.(ASD)

Coronary sinuses
Coronary sinuses  are the openings the coronary veins into the right atrium

Interatrial septum
The septum forms the posterior wall of the right atrium above the opening of the coronary sinus
Attached to the right atrium is the right auricular appendix.
