Seminal Vesicles
Definition
The seminal vesicles are a pair of simple tubular glands;
Part of male reproductive system
Situation
posteroinferior to the urinary bladder
Structure
wall is fibromuscular
pouch like structure
lined inside by columnar epithelium
lower end opens into a short duct
the lower end joins the vas deferens and forms the ejaculatory duct
Function
They secrete the fluid that becomes semen.
About 60% of the seminal fluid in humans originates from the seminal vesicles
